Flickcritique says: The movie is too long, too much about morale and it seriously lacks of a good story. I like both the main actors but this is just not interesting. For me, it was a waste of time The cartoon sumerizes the entire flick.

Watch it if you liked: I love heist movies and I’ve seen plenty of them. Entrapment (1999), Ocean’s Eleven (2001), Heist (2001) - you name it! They are all great! Flawless might be the same genre but the movie is too slow and the screen play lacks good action

The plot: Victor has a hard time establishing a serious relationship with someone but he’s good in finding fuck buddies all the time. However, things change for him as he meets Paige, his Alzheimer-sick mom’s, attractive doctor. Or so he thinks…

Flickcritique says: This movie is all about getting laid. Everyone, everywhere. Except for the numerous top-less scenes it would be a bit boring, if it wasn’t Sam Rockwel aka Victor doing a good job There is not much to say about this flick, except it’s amusing, so if you have two hours of idle time, give it a shot

Watch it if you liked: I dunno, really… maybe YOU can think of any similar movies?

The plot in a few words: Starting off with an Asian man the disease affects more and more people. There is no explanation or treatment, everyone who gets it goes blind in short period of time. Eventually, government takes drastic measures detaining the sick ones without any help and barely any support. As the situation gets worse, the authorities lose more and more control over the plaque anarchy and violence start to reign inside the detention camp as much as out side of it. However, what no one knows it that Julianne Mores vision is perfectly fine and that she just followed her blinded husband. Among all the people struk by this blindness, she turns to be the one who has the biggest burden to carry..

Flickcritique says: It’s an interesting idea for a disaster movie, however the plot seems a bit long-winded. It’s probably because the movie has some depth and there is more about the story then just the blindness. It’s also a drama about an estranged couple fighting for their relationship. Except for the violence I liked the movie, probably even more because of it’s ending. A bit aging but still very attractive Julianne Moore does a fine acting job once again. I was also delighted to see Alice Braga (remember her being Ana in I am Legend?) staging the promiscuous woman with dark glasses. It’s not a high budget, global disaster flick with horrifying effects. It’s rather the simplicity of the pictures that transforms the gravity of the situation. It’s a movie worth watching.

Watch it if you liked: Think of the movie as a mix of 28 Days Later… (2002) and The Happening (2008), except there are no flesh eating zombies and no killing plants, either. In Blindness the true evil are the people.

The plot in a nutshell: Zack and Miri are broke and desperate for funding since their bills have not been paid in months. After some serious thinking over a few beers, they decide to shoot a porn flick assuming at least anyone who went to school with them would be interested in watching it, making their focus group at least 800 people strong While they cast co-actors and build up a filming crew with a little help of their friends, they also discover something they would never have expected to find out.

Flickcritique says: This movie is insulting, obscene, disgusting and I love it! It’s absolutely awesome! I am not a big fan of Seth Rogen, I thought he sucked a bit in Pineapple Express but director Kevin Smith just knows how to make actors shine. The entire cast makes a great job. I pissed my pants listening to the conversations about finding the right title for the flick In the end they choose Start Whores I believe. It’s also a movie that educates the audience, since I learned a few new terms. My favorite is “Dutch rudder” . It is the second romantic comedy this year that I liked, after What Happens in Vegas. The ending is a bit of a cliché but that’s all right, considering how out of the ordinary the entire movie is.

Watch it if you liked: Any movie directed by Kevin Smith like Dogma (1999), Clerks (2000), Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001) - this man is a genius

Edit: I almost forgot to mention the outstanding performance of Justin Long. Kudos to him for his short but extremely impressive part

Short movie review: Heartbroken detective looking for revenge and salvation - just another guy-taking-revenge movie

The Plot: Silent detective of the NYPD Max Payne becomes the prime suspect after multiple gory homocides. Proceeding with the investigation he figures out that the case is related to his wife and kids murder a few years ago. Driven by rage he solves the case, paying a high price though.

Flickcritique says: I haven’t played the game Max Payne before, so I went to see the movie pretty unbiassed. Based on the trailer I expected some sort of biblical struggle between the forces of good and evil, so imagine my surprise when I realized it was just a regular crime flick. If it wasn’t for the cast with Mark Wahlberg aka Max Payne and super hot Olga Kurylenko, also recently seen in the Quantum of Solace movie, this flick would probably go unnoticed. The plot is simple and painfully foreseeable. You must be a huge Marky Mark fan to watch this

Similar movies: Have you watched RoboCop (1987) with Peter Weller being shot dead so he could be reanimated to bring Robo-justice? Or Hard to Kill (1990) with Steven Seagall as a cop taking revenge for being shot? Max Payne is really no different then these movies

The Plot in a nutshell: Till turning 30 or so work-shy George Walker, born with the burden of being a Bush spends most of his time gambling, drinking and parting before he figures out the only way to impress his father and gain his respect he’s seeking for is to succeed in something, anything.  As luck would have it, he goes for politics and does better anyone could expect from a simple fella like Georgie aka W.

Flickcritique says: It positively is one of my favourite movies! The entire cast is fantastic! Josh Brolin also seen last year in No Country for Old Men makes an amazing George Bush double! The mimic, the posture, the gestures - everything is perfect! In fact, I think Josh Brolin is the better President Bush Also, never before has the cabinet of a president has been rebuilt so well. The kudos go especially to Toby Jones for being an amazing Karl Rove, Dennis Boutsikaris staging excellently Paul Wolfowiz,  Richard Dreyfuss for playing a great Dick Chaney and last but not least to Thandie Newton for giving the spectators an almost lovable Condoleeza Rice. My respect to Oliver Stone and the entire film crew Great job guys, it’s as much a pleasure to watch your movie as to write an honest review about it

Watch it if you liked: My movie-addicted friends told me that Nixon (1995) with Anthony Hopkins playing the only president who reigned to avoid being impeached because of the Watergate scandal was similar to W. but honestly I did not have a chance to watch it yet, so this a comparison under reserve.

The Plot: Four police officer homicides in New York City initiate an investigation eventually unveiling the ugly true about morale standards of the department. In the saga bad apples and heros of a multi-generation police officers family have to make difficult choices and face the full extent of their consequences…

Flickcritique says: Great cast with Edward Norton playing a cop named Ray and Collin Farrell as Ray’s brother-in-law Francis! Particularly, Colin recently outperforming in In Bruges does a great job again. I have to admit I became a fan of his despite initial doubts regarding his acting skills. The story is not too complicated but the screen play is rock solid and convincing. Little color saturation makes NYC look morbid, which matches perfectly the atmosphere of the movie. Me and my friends liked the movie, despite the disappointingly righteous, Hollywood-style ending. And despite the a bit too shaky camera

Oh, one thing is gonna come up on moviemistakes.com for sure is Ray’s big but temporary disappearing facial scare No one is perfect they say and director Gavin O’Connor seems not to be a perfectionist either

Watch it if you liked: Cop Land (1997) with Silvester Stallone unveiling the truth about suburban cop idyll or The Departed (2006) with Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon and Jack Nicholson playing a cat-and-mouse game.

The Plot: A conscienceless ass is making money out of dumping toxic waste anywhere he can, some kids steal mafia guns and dream of a bright future as kingpins, some other ones change sides in the ongoing mafia wars and sell out their friends. In my opinion there is barely something like a real plot in Gomorra

Flickcritique says: Maybe it’s just me and a certain lack of understanding for Italian movies but most of the time I thought the movie was a bit naive, too long and kinda boring It lacks an ongoing plot and a main character. Some of the dialogues a just trivial and appear a bit posed. I like mafia movies and I am kinda fan of Italian cinema but Gomorra did not convince me and I can not recommend it

I’ve been thinking of similar movies that I’ve watched…There is Goodfellas (1990) and Casino (1995) but either of the are really similar, since these are American mafia movies… not sure I can compare Gomorra to anything but since it’s not worth watching anyways I can live with it

The Plot: The world as we know it is no more. A global conflict between mining corporations reigns over what’s left of the planet. Until an ancient seal is broken, unveiling an army of scary mutants with blades growing out their forearms, forcing all humans to stick together in order to survive.

Flickcritique says: What a piece of crap! I can’t believe some good actors agreed to join this c-class movie project. I like Ron Perlman, recently seen in Hellboy 2. And I have respect for John Malkovich, who made my day  when I watched Burn After Reading. But this? It’s a low tech, kinda First World War/Industrial Revolution-style movie with cheap effects and no real story

Side note: I almost pissed my pants seeing German wannabe actor Benno Fürmann playing a retro WWI commander role. I guess it was an attempt to become a real actor The guy really should have stayed in his German hicksville

Watch it f you liked: No, don’t! Even if you like mutant movies this is a s bad as Doomsday. Just don’t watch this, you would be wasting your time

Critique in a nutshell:

The Plot: Jigsaw dies in the last Saw movie. But his game does not. Agent Strahm (Scott Patterson) knows about this and tries to figure out what was going on behind the scenes, despite a clear warning from Jigsaw to let it go or else…

Flickcritique says: I was surprised watching a sequel that did not suck. Especially since Saw IV was really bad I liked Saw V. The traps and the games are worse then ever. There is a lot of gore scenes and interesting flash backs. The ending might not come to a surprise to everyone but at least it’s not a Hollywood stereotype, happy ending
