Hellboy II: The Golden Army – a quick review
The story: The muscular, kitten-loving, red fella has to stand up against an over-ambitious prince and his ancient army of indestructible, golden warriors - great movie! Watch it!
In a nutshell: Hellboy is craving for recognition for his heroic deeds, very much to disliking of his superiors. Simultaneously, he’s got a few personal life issues with his moody girlfriend Liz (Selma Blair, hot!). Luckily, as he faces his next challenge, the narrow-minded but aspiring Prince Nuada Hellboy can count on his psychic pal Abe
Flickcritique says: WOOOOOOW! What a great comic adaptation! Hellboy2 rocks! Let me summarize the movie quickly:
- acting performance: 9/10 points. Kudos to Ron Perlman, well done!
- plot: 7/10 points. Could be slightly more logical but I did not mind really.
-
sense of humor: 10/10 points. Laughed my ass off!
-
CGI: 10/10 points. Particularly the Golden Army warriors are awsome!
For me, this movie is even better then the first Hellboy flick. The main characters definitely evolved and appear more mature now. I even liked the new ones, even though I was skeptical at the first sight. The explanation for the tooth ferry tale was brilliant and so were the tooth ferries themselves - evil little bastards
A funny fact: the scenes that were supposed to be in Giant’s Causeway/Northern Ireland, however it did not look like Giant’s Causeway at all [yes, I have been there]. Anyways, Red’s sense of humor was making it up for any flaws the script had. Loved the movie!
My favorite conversation:
A: Nice baby.
B: I am not a baby. I am a tumor.
Conclusion: What are you waiting for? Watch that cool movie, you gonna like it!
Watch it if you liked: the first movie about Hellboy (2004) is the only one that comes to my mind.
